Pictures of Azec Ruins
Aztec Ruins photographs.
The capital of the Mexica Nation was Tenochtitlan, unfortunately, everything was mostly destroyed, even if their sculpture was monumental, like the aztec calendar. Ironically, the pyramids that survived, although in ruins, were the ones of Teotihuacan, an ancient city 1,000 years older than the Mexica pyramids. This civilization spread out from the northern borders of mesoamerica to deep inside the Mayan regions. Unfortunately, little is known about the people who built a city larger than it's contemporary Rome. This is a picture of the ruins of the pyramid of the moon, the second largest structure in the ancient city.

One of the sadness about tourism is it's affluence of thousands hurts the ruins, and someday the climbing access will have to be closed in order to preserve the structure.

The most famous, and largest structure in the city of Teotihuacan (city of the gods), is the ruins of the pyramid of the sun. Recent excavations have revealed burials in both pyramids, the moon pyramid and the sun pyramid.
